This is a male AMERICAN KESTREL or sparrow hawk or Falco sparverius that I drew. It dosn’t really fit its name ”sparrow hawk” because it is a falcon and it does not prefer sparrows. The American Kestrel is about 8 to 10 inches long, but there are 12 other varieties that can be up to 15 inches. The American kestrel eats mice and large bugs such as grasshoppers, crickets, and butterflies, but will eat some small birds. I love the kestrel because it is a falcon, and I have never studied it(or known its existence) until very recently. They are very common and often mistaken for swallows, but I did not have any trouble finding one at my grandpa’s farm. That’s how I got interested. p.s (the beak is open just so you know) by tommy
